In this stage you put together the frame of the starboard upper mandible, using frame sections TF-41, TF-42 and TF-43. You then add some plant-on details to the two recesses that you have been supplied with so far. The sprue supplied with this issue holds nine details but you will be using just six of these in this stage.

    Parts needed:
Top frame TF-41 (mandible) supplied with Issue 74
Top frame TF-42 (mandible) supplied with Issue 75
Top frame TF-43 (mandible) supplied with Issue 75
Four two-hole connectors supplied with Issue 75
Gather together eight short black button head screws
    Recess supplied with Issue 74
    Recess supplied with Issue 75
Sprue holding plant-on details supplied with Issue 75

    Tools and other items needed
If you do everything that is described in the Stage 75 Assembly section of the magazine you will need the following:
Screwdriver supplied with Issue 2, or similar.
    Side cutters or similar
    Craft knife
Needle file or fine sanding pads or sticks
    Cutting board
Cyanoacrylate instant glue, also known as superglue
    Cocktail sticks

    Assembling the mandibles
This is more or less the same as what you did in Stage 73, when you put together the lower starboard mandible framework. It’s a straightforward procedure; just be sure that the edges of the frame sections line up when you do the black screws up tight.

    Adding details to the recesses
You will almost certainly need tweezers when you put detail (1) in position, preferably some with narrow jaws. Put a dab of glue on the end of (1) where it touches the side of the structure within the recess. Detail (2) is small so cut it carefully and be gentle if any waste plastic needs to be filed or sanded off. Be careful when you cut (3) from the sprue: do not cut off its pin that fits into the hole in (4). And when you glue (3) into (4) hold (3) at a right angle to (4) until the glue bond forms. As with all gluing, a test fit is a good idea and this is especially the case with (6). As well as gluing (6) into the hole or slot in the base of the recess, you might want to add a tiny spot of glue to the pointed end where the small flat face rests against the side of the recess.

    Tidy up and store
Put the frame section of the mandible that you have assembled this time somewhere where it won’t get bent and store the recesses with you other sub assemblies. Put the sprue – still with three details on it – back in the parts pack for Issue 75 so you know where to find it when you need it.
